Not bad, but a slow drive. Big capacity but not fast.

May not matter in your application.

Yea, I used to love seagate, but heard quite a few bad things about them lately (particularly being slow)

Would be a good backup drive though - something where speed doesn't matter.

Not a refurb either - it's new.

I've been very happy with Hitachi in the larger capacity disks for the last few years. Zero failures.

WDs have been troublesome of late -- there are some bad firmware loads out there in the wild, and if you get one you're in trouble. The Colo machine has had SEVERAL faults over the last year with these ****ers -- I think I finally have all stable firmware revs in there, but it took a while. Good thing I have a nice RAID controller in there eh?

I've also got some of the smaller Seagate's (~300gb) that are in a complex RAID array box here that are slowly going into the trashcan as they fault out.

The biggest problem I've got with the larger Seagates is that they're slow. The 2TB 5xxx RPM drives are particularly slow, but they're stable -- I've got a few in service around here and haven't had one puke yet -- they're ok as backup drives but I wouldn't use them where you care about I/O performance.

The 7200 RPM Seagate units are nice but I still prefer the Hitachi's at present. It's not a strong preference though -- as long as they're both 7200 RPM whichever is cheaper I'll go for.

I've got two WD's in this box. A 80gb (just for windows) and a 1.5tb.

I really need more storage, but that money thing kinda puts a crimp in it.

Ok, something special, but I'm afraid it's first come, first served.

Please don't ask for it if you don't plan to use it.

$20 off a $200 or more order from tigerdirect.com. First person to PM me and ask for the url gets it. (It can only be used once and karl's url testing would screw it up if posted publicly.)

It's good only through April 17th, 2012 at 11:59PM ET.

I have no intentions of buying anything anytime soon so there's no point in letting it go to waste.

Again, please don't ask for it if you're not going to actually use it - but if you will use it, feel free.

I'll post here if somebody takes it.

Williams-Sonoma has a Shun vegetable knife on sale for $100. Depending on where you look, that's discounted at least 38%. The cheapest I could find this anywhere else was $160.

http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/....

I went by my local store and they had one left. It is very well constructed and the core of the blade is made of VG-10 steel. The spine is fairly thick and the blade does not flex. It is ground and has a bulge in the handle for right-handed use. Here's a pic:

Edit: and if you use the code SHIP4FREE, then you get free shipping.

It seemed a little expensive to me at first, but with so much VG-10 steel in it and seeing how well it's made, I'm happy with it now.

Slow, but cheap storage. $20 less than the same one I posted about a month and a half ago:

Acronis 2012 at $0 is still not (and never will be) worth it.

It is a complete piece of ****. The one thing I needed it to do was to xfer an image from a HDD to an SSD. I had to fight it for 4+ hours before it would finally complete.

100 lumen LED flashlight, $13 today from Woot. Uses 2 AA batteries. Normally runs $32-$40 on Amazon. I'm a total flashlight geek so it looks really appealing to me.
