Gentlemen, how about a solution in tune with classical tort law-- you may own any weapon whose (accidental detonation) .25 psi blast radius does not reach your property boundary. (1 psi will break windows under normal conditions) But I suggest you buy stable and reliable weapons-- repeated noise is also a tort beyond reasonable limits. This is half-tongue in cheek but also half not-- the vast majority of people can only afford weapons that meet this standard or less. To limit a class of weapons per se really plays into the hands of the 2nd Amendment dislikers--- but also it freezes definitions by the archaic standards of our age. The people who wrote the Constitution did not go into overmuch detail as to muskets, ball shot, etc.

To over-specify liberty is to limit liberty...

There should be no restrictions.

One person in a heavy truck can do more damage than one person with an automatic weapon.

I admit, shoulder launched mini-nukes might be a problem.

In some countries in Europe suppressors are mandatory. In the USA, they are a restricted item. Judging by their actions, which government trusts their citizens?

Edit: thanks :)

Supressors. Don't confuse the anti gun crowd anymore than they already are now.
Nothing I ever killed heard the report of the rifle anyway.

Divide the 12,000 gun homicides in 2007 by the 200,000,000 legally owned guns present in the U.S.

The answer reveals that we are ludicrous for even wasting time discussing prohibition or limitations of any sort.

Ylekiot: And the vast majority of the homicides were with illegally owned guns.

It's justifiably immoral to deal morally with an immoral entity.

If our government sold or gave one to our enemies we should be able to buy one too. It sets the bar very high for our government to be prudent in who they sell them to. At the same time it keeps us from getting straffed by A 10s. That we paid for with our tax dollars. Yes that means quad fifties and stingers.

This is America I find comfort in the fact the guy living next door is armed. He is my friend and shares in many of my values. I am not so sure of the values of some in DC I never met them or talked to them one on one.

Weapons of Infantry. Infantry is what takes, and holds, the ground; therefor for power to remain with the people, the people must be allowed the right to keep and bear arms of infantry.

That means anything up to anti-air and anti-tank munitions and small explosives.

Federal Government can and probably should keep track of mechanized machinery, helicopters, Fighter Jets and Navy Vessels. I don't think anyone wants someone voting from the basement with a nuke. By the time that's outdated we'll be in space.

Registration of firearms or individuals purchasing firearms should be constitutionally banned with the clause specifically stating what happened in Nazi Germany in WW2.

From there State and Municipal Regulations pertaining to those devices take over. E.G. you might want laws about expiration dates on explosives and bans on the storage of specific types of explosives within certain residential areas, but that is a property rights issue not a federal government issue and the states or municipalities can change their constitution and laws all they want.

An armed society is a polite society, and if you know someone is going to blow the living AGAS1$!@#GAS out of your home if you screw them at work out of a bonus, you might be more inclined to deal fairly.

If (rate of inflation) * (total unencumbered currency) > (total unencumbered currency) per year; the difference is guaranteed to default per year. Covering the difference via debt causes exponential inflation; Interest reaches unsaleable levels, monetary base contracts, then collateral values and banks collapse.

In the ideal world, anything in general use by the gov.

In today's world, I will be happy with a LMT 308 and a crap load of Federal 150 grain MRX ammo.
And a nice acog to match the above.

With the above, I my worry level drops a to normal levels.

Today in upstate New York the gunfire was constant from many of the surrounding neighbors. I'm talking several times per second. I was outside rigging up electricity to my wife's new chicken coop. It's comforting actually.
