Ican - I agree 100% on your statements about the feelings about Wall Street but can this movement propose the solutions or do they just want a $20 minimum wage?.........and stronger unions to fight the rich...........and more spending for education to save jobs ...... and somebody to do something to save them........?

I dont know what their solutions are and neither do they. Their anger is good but their direction is undetermined.

yeah 1lumpor2

they get tonz of people out there with no real message but when it reaches a peak —then one with biggest microphone wins the dominate message

what is going to happen when you have 500k people out there and SEIU comes out on TeeVee and says — see, all these people want .Gov to take over everything. Then the prez says- "I support them on that"

people are like sheep and this is like someone herding them in the slaughter house

"Obama, Democrats Plan to Tie GOP to Wall Street

The burgeoning of populist protests in New York and other cities shows that resentment over the economy is growing, and Democratic strategists are moving aggressively to show that President Obama and his party are taking steps to solve the problem while Republicans are standing in the way.

The Democratic National Committee is starting what a spokesman called a coordinated attack with the Obama re-election campaign and state parties designed to link Republican presidential candidates to Wall Street. As part of that effort, the DNC this morning released a new 105-second web video called "Republicans: On the Side of Wall Street, Not Consumers" which can see here:

Democratic strategists make the point that Obama is sympathetic to the protesters' underlying concerns. These strategists note that Obama and the Democrats are calling for legal protection for consumers and higher taxes on the wealthy and on big corporations so they pay their "fair share" while the GOP generally opposes those ideas.

Obama: Occupy Wall Street protests show Americans' frustration

"I think it expresses the frustrations the American people feel, that we had the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression, huge collateral damage all throughout the country ... and yet you're still seeing some of the same folks who acted irresponsibly trying to fight efforts to crack down on the abusive practices that got us into this in the first place,"

"Not only did the financial sector, with the Republican Party in Congress, fight us every step in the way. But now you've got these same folks arguing we should roll back all those reforms and go back to the way it was," Obama said. "That does not make sense to the American people. They are frustrated by it and they will continue to be frustrated by it until they get the sense that everyone is playing by the same rules."

And that's why is CRITICAL that we are involved, to try and help shape the message and prevent this. Everybody on this forum was dreaming about the day that the "sheeple" would start to rise up against the bankers and corporate interests. It has started, it's not going to fade away, their is too much pent up anger and frustration behind it.

You can either remain cynical, sit on the sidelines, and simply bitch online about what you wanted in the first place or you can do something about it.

Say there's 8,000 of the FSA there, and then 2,000 FED-Up people come. You know what the message will be? "Look there's 10,000 people here who support no cuts to government spending, there's 10,000 people here who suppport Obama and his jobs bill!" You showing up will only furthur legitimize THEM and and to THIER numbers.

how is analyzing a situation being cynical?

I simply want to know who/what it is that i'm standing next to/for BEFORE I engage

unlike some people who simply jump in with the BELIEF that it is all good and everything will work out for the best—whatever that is

I suppose I am cynical because I read contracts before I sign them as well. smiley

"Biden: Wall St protests show Americans see system unfair"

"Vice President Joe Biden said on Thursday.

"Let's be honest with each other. What is the core of that protest? The core is the bargain has been breached with the American people. The American people do not think the system is fair," Biden told the Washington Ideas Forum."

""At a minimum they are tone deaf," Biden said of Bank of America, adding that at worst they are not paying their fair share."

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/biden-wall-st-p....

Yes BofA sucks, but Biden and the TOTUS and the FSA that is occupying Wall Street they "All the "rich" are not paying their fair share"

The also believe that the "Unfair System" is Free Market Capitalism.

The system as it stands right now isn't fair. It's also not free market capitalism.

Edit: Hit my post limit, in response to Nike below,

Some are just too far gone, you can not explain it to them. If you try they will not listen, they will walk away from you, or will shout you down when you tell them anything that goes against thier beliefs. They do not want the truth.

Has anyone bothered trying to explain that to them? Or did we all just throw up our hands and leave them to Obama and his ilk to "sympathize" with?

Vegas, not positive but perhaps you're one of the first to decry the slant of NPR, CNN and similar outlets. But The Blaze is going to be your go-to source for The Truth?

Quote:

The Blaze is a conservative news and opinion website launched on August 31, 2010, by American media personality and Fox News host Glenn Beck's Mercury Radio Arts, three days after Beck's widely publicized Restoring Honor rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D. C. Beck has promoted The Blaze as an alternative to "mainstream media outlets," which Beck says are "distorting facts to fit rigid agendas." Beck was quoted saying that The Blaze will feature "breaking news, original reporting, insightful opinions and engaging videos about the stories that matter most" and that "we will examine our culture, deal with matters of faith and family, and we won’t be afraid of a history lesson."[3] The site is reportedly modeled after The Huffington Post, and has been compared to that site by Matt DeLong of the Washington Post and Steve Krakauer of Mediaite.[4][5]

In August 2011, Beck's production company, Mercury Radio Arts, announced that The Blaze was to brand news segments to appear on the live streaming video network GBTV, set to launch September 12, 2011.[6]

My husband is in DC right now and just walked past the protest. He said there were about 300-400 gathered. He noticed Code Pink and quite a few suit-and-tie sorts. I asked if the suit-and-ties were gawkers or if they were participating but he said he couldn't tell; he was on his way to a meeting so he couldn't linger.

Bill Ayers, the guy who wrote Obama's books, weighs in:

Occupy Wall Street! Collective statement of the protesters…
What follows is the first official, collective statement of the protesters in Zuccotti Park:

As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies.

As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality: that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known.

They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.
They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give Executives exorbitant bonuses.
They have perpetuated inequality and discrimination in the workplace based on age, the color of one’s skin, sex, gender identity and sexual orientation.
They have poisoned the food supply through negligence, and undermined the farming system through monopolization.
They have profited off of the torture, confinement, and cruel treatment of countless animals, and actively hide these practices.
They have continuously sought to strip employees of the right to negotiate for better pay and safer working conditions.
They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right.
They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers’ healthcare and pay.
They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people, with none of the culpability or responsibility.
They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams that look for ways to get them out of contracts in regards to health insurance.
They have sold our privacy as a commodity.
They have used the military and police force to prevent freedom of the press.
They have deliberately declined to recall faulty products endangering lives in pursuit of profit.
They determine economic policy, despite the catastrophic failures their policies have produced and continue to produce.
They have donated large sums of money to politicians, who are responsible for regulating them.
They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil.
They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people’s lives or provide relief in order to protect investments that have already turned a substantial profit.
They have purposely covered up oil spills, accidents, faulty bookkeeping, and inactive ingredients in pursuit of profit.
They purposefully keep people misinformed and fearful through their control of the media.
They have accepted private contracts to murder prisoners even when presented with serious doubts about their guilt.
They have perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad.
They have participated in the torture and murder of innocent civilians overseas.
They continue to create weapons of mass destruction in order to receive government ontracts.*

To the people of the world, We, the New York City General Assembly occupying Wall Street in Liberty Square, urge you to assert your power.

Exercise your right to peaceably assemble; occupy public space; create a process to address the problems we face, and generate solutions accessible to everyone.

To all communities that take action and form groups in the spirit of direct democracy, we offer support, documentation, and all of the resources at our disposal.

Join us and make your voices heard!

Regarding Bill Ayers facts:

I suppose we are to believe the corporations did all of that all by themselves, no help from any politicians, heh?

There are several contradictory statements in his spiel.
