From the buzz that Occupy Dallas is getting for the Dallas Fed protest on Thursday, I expect thousands, maybe tens of thousands.

Why not print a bunch of Tickers, like "Welcome to the Collapse of 2011, and pass them out. Try to educate the idiots? You never know. Can't hurt. Might help.

There are maybe a dozen at the Kansas City Fed. Not really worth my time. I have painting and a farm to take care of while we have good weather. Also need to hit the firing range. If it picks up, I may run down there.

With Karl being on Ratigan, that would give him some exposure, maybe some recognition. I don't have cable, would someone please post the video?

Bez's idea to do an "Atlas Shrugged" is fine in theory, but in reality, not gonna happen.

Now I gotta get outside and get busy.

I don't think the snark is necessary toward the foolish young people who are overextended with student loans. I do wonder where their parents were. "Get a job" when unemployment is around 10% or so, and worse in college towns? Yeah, right. A person can save how much toward college with an $8 an hour job? That's about $16k a year, gross. It would barely cover the first year at many state schools (including room and board). That would be if they're lucky enough to find one full-time or two part-time jobs in today's economic climate.

We were sold a bill of goods about college - that it had to be expensive, that "prestige" really mattered. What matters more is the piece of paper, which can be gotten a lot cheaper at a state university, perhaps by getting the gen ed requirements out of the way first at a local community college. That that didn't happen more is, yes, because of easy money and the other stupidities.

Now, though, it's water under the bridge.

We are seeing too many bright young people that have been looted by another branch of TPTB. Whether it's their own fault or not might be immaterial at this point - unless we want to create a bigger underclass than we've already got. I'd sure as heck rather bail out bright young students than already-wealthy banksters. Ahem.

It's a shame the commie element has so many examples of the cruelties perpetrated by TPTB to hold up as their examples - examples that will resonate with and garner sympathy from a lot of joe 6-pack.

Who cares if it's the Jirondists or Jacobins or Dantonists or Montagnards that are paying for the guillotines. It's 1789 out there, oui? The Estates-General are meeting all over the county.

I respectfully disagree, sure there are generational issues but most of this is class.

the generational issues are absolutely DWARFED by the massive and fraudulent wealth transfer of the last three years.

I gotta say I don't see these wall street marchers calling for an end to social security or medicare. I'm not saying those things are in great financial shape but that's definitely not where the anger is, basically almost everyone in the country hates the rich (by that I mean the very rich) right now. There is a certain level of socialist sentiment, but mostly I think it's average people seeing how the rich have gamed the system to benefit themselves at the expense of everyone else.

Mo - From what I've read, more wealth is held by fewer people now than at any time since the Great Depression.

Wages for many people have stagnated for 10 years and more. I'm earning less for the same job than I did 20 years ago, and I'm better at it than I was back then.

Flick, there's still more wealth in the 45+ age group than in the under 45 age group.

It has always been this way and always will be, unless some idiot starts giving money to babies.

Exactly because we are going into a great depression. This won't be the case after all the politicos and banker friends lose all their borrowed money. Its almost the freaking definition of an exponential money supply. Money supply goes up due to lending by the bank. That means someone had to borrow it. WHO DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO GET TO BORROW THE MONEY? The rich dude with political connections. ie "fewer people" in your quote. Yet I can't get one liberal to understand that. Allowing the money supply to inflate is directly handing your money to the rich people.

Mo - I would expect the over 45s to hold more wealth than the younger people. We have all those baby boomers. Plus those are the people with well-established careers, not in their first jobs at "starter" salaries.

What I have read is, a smaller percentage of people hold a larger percentage of our total wealth than at any other time since the Great Depression.

The two classes are not the Labour and the Capital, the rich and the poor, the proletariat and the bourgeoisie, or the workers and the elite. The two classes are the Debtors and the Savers. “The easy money camp” and “the hard money camp”. History reveals the story of these two groups, over and over and over again. Always one is in power, and always the other one desires the power.

1. Debtors - “The easy money camp” likes to spend (and redistribute) money it did not earn, either by borrowing it, taxing the savers for it, or printing it. They like easy money because it is always and everywhere constantly inflating, easing the repayment of their debts.

2. Savers - “The hard money camp” likes to live within their means and save any excess for the future. They prefer hard money (or in some cases “harder” money) because it protects their savings and forces the debtors to work off their debts.

1789, the French Revolution, “the hard money camp” had been in power since 1720 when John Law’s easy money collapsed, and starting in 1789 “the easy money camp” killed “the hard money camp” and took back the power. This is the way “the easy money camp”, the Debtors, usually take power... by revolting against the hard repayment of their spending habits.
Only nine years later, 1797, easy money collapsed once again (as it had just done in 1720) and a new French monetary system based upon gold was again reinstated. This is the way “the hard money camp”, the Savers, almost always regain control: when the easy money collapses. On very rare occasions and only under highly favorable circumstances (like moving to a new continent!), “the hard money crowd” takes control by physically separating from “easy money” and declaring independence from the Debtors.

The American Revolution. Yes, the Constitution mandates hard money.

So just to repeat for clarity: Hard money regimes almost always end in bloodshed, when the easy money camp slaughters the hard money camp to avoid hard repayment terms. And easy money regimes almost always end in financial suffering when the easy money collapses.

I agree there's been good discussion on this. And I do think there's opportunity to use this 'momentum' against the big banks for good. But to stand with THESE people, man, I think it's a mistake. If a group of FedUp's get together outside of these communists, I'd be willing to join in on that.

I've got a couple of people going down to the meeting for the planning committe for Occupy Detroit. (Facebook Announcement): http://www.facebook.com/fedup.steph?v=wa....

They've watched Karl's spot on Dylan Ratigan today and read my article here: http://www.fedupusa.org/2011/10/occupy-w....

They're going to try to reach a consensus with all who want to participate to agree to put everything aside except STOP THE LOOTING & START PROSECUTING.

For anyone else who plans to attend one of these, I would suggest you do the same. I think you may be surpised at the response you'll get from everyone.

Love this thread. All the drones pointing at commies. What is this, the Archie Bunker forum? And, to top it all off, people here touting "state schools" as an affordable alternative for your college education. Sure, go ahead and come to the commie state school I work for. Come one, come all. After all, I got a pension I'm going to retire on soon at 80% of current pay for life, and need help paying for it. The commie life is good to me. And, if that pension goes bust, big ****ing deal, I'll turn corporate, whatever it takes to make bank, just like the rest of you **********s.
