Entitled: Lack of common sense on school bond issue

A last plea for common sense on the bond issue.

*The cost of extras for the high school are more than the high school itself. Are you kidding me?

*Add up the total of all the houses for sale in Rawlins - approx. 106 according to Trulia.com, and the asking prices are $16.5 million. The bond issue is $26.5 million. Personally, that's all I needed to know.

*The pool is in a building that is in excellent repair. As I understand it, when I visited the pool for the first time in five years of residency, the pool has a crack in it and some plumbing needs replacing. And what is to happen with the building the facilities are in?

*A recent free Air Force concern had an audience that filled half or less of the venue and we need more seating?

*We need vocational space when the high school is too big? What is it that is getting in the way of logic here? Not only that, but we are going to tear down two grade schools, but we don't have enough vocational space or after school program space?

*The high school is too big, but we can't lock rooms and close vents, and then lie about how much the maintenance would cost if we don't build a new school. Oddly enough, if I'm not using a room, I can close the vent and door, but that won't work at a high school. Yeah the new high school is a moot issue, but the bond issue and using common sense and logic isn't.

*Locker room improvements for $500,000 - again are you kidding me? The most expensive house in Rawlins is for sale with an asking price of $305,000 and that includes the property.

All of the above add up to the current state of affairs in the US, asking for stuff that we can't afford or don't really need.

We have a $16 trillion national debt because of this mentality and the ability to force 49 percent of the voters to pay for what 51 percent of the voters want (as it pertains to bond issues). I suppose its because our decision makers today didn't have these "improvements" while they were going to school, which prevented them from paying attention in financial management courses?

Therefore we're voting for Taj Majal improvements on Tuesday

This bond issue is going to be a major milestone in my life. If it passes, I will always look upon Americans as sheeple, too stupid to have the right to vote. Yes, this has happened all too frequently but this one I have been very outspoken against. Its a boondoggle worthy of California or Illinois and its happening in my very own community. And, AND in these economic times. Woe the absurdity!

Great letter Guy. Let us know how the vote turns out.

Rawlins, glad it's you and not me.

Also printed on the same day was a letter from one of the school board members. Careful when you read it. Its going to make you queasy.

Letter: Bond is about a long-term vision for our children

Published: Thursday, November 3, 2011 2:07 AM MDT
Tomorrows Vision Today, Citizens for Visionary Community Education.

This campaign slogan and name of the Political Action Committee promoting the upcoming bond issue are speaking to a larger concept being followed by School District 1 and your school board. As one of the school boards’ representatives on the PAC, allow me to provide a little insight on what the vision represents.

A primary responsibility of the board is to always maintain an awareness of how decisions we make today will impact tomorrow. I know how serious my fellow board members and myself take this responsibility.

The vision we have embraced and strive to achieve will have a positive outcome for the district’s students, one that will have a long lasting impact.

Furthermore, this vision knows no boundaries, regardless of the building or, for that matter, the community this current board has strived to maintain a level of consistency when making decisions which impact the long-term vision we have for all students of the district.

This vision of creating a cohesive and modern educational environment for Carbon County School District 1 students will be impacted by the outcome of the upcoming bond election.

Every aspect of this bond issue is in one way or another directly tied to the long-range vision for the district.

Admittedly the primary focus of this bond is the high school in Rawlins, but, when the time comes to focus on Bairoil, LSRV or Sinclair, it is my belief the needs of those students and their community would be addressed with the same vigor applied to the current bond issue and this vision would not be compromised in any way.

Regardless of how you as an individual feel toward this bond issue, remember, at the heart of the matter is a vision of how we will go about the business of educating our children.

I, as a parent and member of the PAC, ask for your support. Please take this opportunity to impact future generations of students and vote Tuesday.

Thank you,

Gilbert Archuleta

Rawlins

This was my response.

" Whenever you hear someone mention "vision" it means they are a politician and the vision is to see how much can be extracted from your pocket.

The term "vision" is a dead giveaway for someone that wants to steal from you and in this case children are being used as the shield to deflect criticism."

Okay, so we get a new boondoggle ala CA or IL

Voters in District 1 — that’s Rawlins, Baggs, Sinclair, Dixon, Bairoil and Muddy Gap — approved the bond 1049 to 765.

I do not want to hear anymore about how the sheeple are waking up. Common sense failed in Ohio by a HUGE margin and it failed here as well.

Its built in to the sheeples psyche now from DECADES of conditioning. They want to be taxed, they want to be wage slaves, they want someone else to think for them, they want their taxpayers dollars going towards propaganda to help them think, etc, etc, etc. We are in the worst of times (its actually much worse than it looks on the surface because its false prosperity due to deficit spending) and yet the sheeple are asking for more of the same.

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.....WAY!!!!
