Prepaid priority mail envelope works reverse-addressed (from me, to you) with postage paid works just fine. I just take them back to the local post office and drop them off there at the counter if I miss the mail guy (who otherwise can pick them up at the house if I remember to stick the flag up with a note on the box asking him to come to the door for a pickup)

Get out of the tin bin folks.

Thanks for the reply, Karl.

That's what I suggested in the first place, but I didn't want to ask you to drive to the post office, and the clerk's position was that you HAD to come to the post office, or they would send the books back to you.

I have to give them to a postal employee. I can either do that at the local post office (which is right next to the local grocery store, and thus not a big deal - I'm up there a couple of times a week and sometimes ride my bike up there for both exercise and lunch) or I can hand them to the carrier.

I can't stick them in a drop box - that's true - but that's not a problem.

Sent mine to you to you today. I had to go to a store to get the mailers. First time I've been in a store since 15 August.

I have two copies; one for me and one intended as a Christmas present. I won't be able to go to the post office to get a mailer until Saturday. If I ship them on Monday the 12th, is there a chance I'll get them back by the 22nd?

I have no idea. Priority mail is usually 2-3 days, so "probably yes", but with the holidays the postal service might be slower than usual.

Priority mail takes about 4 days from coast to coast this time of the year. It takes 3 days to get things to/from my Mom outside of Pittsburgh to my place (Austin).

BTW, thanks for signed copy Gen.

I managed to get my copies into the mail this morning. They're the ones with the Brodart-ed dust jackets. http://www.shopbrodart.com/supplies/arch....

The Post Office said you'll probably get them on Tuesday, which seems awfully fast. Sorry, no cookies, though.

Not quite that good; I usually can turn them in a day though, as the post office is pretty handy. It gets a bit hairier from now through the end of the year as we have a lot of people here with kids and grandkids serving overseas and as such the line tends to get a bit out of hand with the customs forms and such on shipping Christmas presents, but I'll do what I can.

Just ordered 2 copies (Amazon), should be here by Friday and back to you (Karl) next week. Maybe cutting it close but I'm giving a copy to my father and I won't see him till after Christmas. His birthday is on Christmas BTW. Should make a nice dual gift.

Cheers!

Karl,

I am down in your area until Tuesday. Is there a place in Destin/Pensacola area where I can purchase them off the shelf. If so would it be possible to meet you at a location for lunch (on me) to get them signed. I will be riding my Beemer (motorcycle) from Pensacola down to Navvarre for the scenic route through the national seashore. I've been to Destin many Times over the years, staying mainly at the Silver Dunes (first condos built) and if I had the money back then they sold for 20k, now about ten Times that much. Still best condo's on the beach imo.

Want two, one for me and then to pass around, the other is for my dad,who just will not believe that JP Morgan does not have his best interest at heart. He isn't in the top 1% but he worked a major corp and controlled everything east of the Mississippi. He listens to me, but at 84 still has major investments with JP, but lots of land also. His "handler" at JP Morgan keeps whispering sweet nothings in his ear, and he just will not believe that its going to hell.

I do not know -- but I can find out. There's a Barnes and Noble on US98 that SAID they would have them in Destin about three weeks ago (they claimed they were on order for sale at the location) but I have not followed up as to whether they have actually come in or not.

You could attempt to call them and see if they have stock, or I could -- we could certainly get together for lunch.

I'll check an see if BK stores are here in Pcola, and I will call the one in Destin. Thanks for the reply, I will check tonight. Weather looks real nice for the next few days. Let me know what is convenient for you and where. Either here or PM. I usually don't log in, just read, so if you would just let me know you sent a PM. Look forward to meeting you, and if I know you, you know what I do, and perhaps we can discuss some ways to get the word out.

What to give a man that has everything,.. "Leverage". LOL

EDITED FOR:
Karl they had two copies at Crystal Lake. Though FYI I called and the first clerk said she did not see them in the computer under the Title or by your name. I used find it by zip code within a 100 miles and the books came up being in stock in crystal lake store. I think I bought the last two. They are holding them for me for three days.

Karl thank you again for your Time and the signed copies.

I learned today that the statement "a gentleman and a scholar" is exactly what Karl is. I believe we all are very lucky to have Karl take the Time and effort to educate us, and share his views. I have been very fortunate to have had many mentors in my life that have opened my eyes. Karl is surely one of them.
