Killing 28 Paki soldiers. Now Pakistan is cutting the supply lines to Afghanistan.

Senior U.S. diplomatic and military officials eventually apologized for the attack, saying it could have been prevented with greater coordination between the U.S. and Pakistan. Pakistan responded by reopening the border crossing.

Reading Pakistani forums, people are freaking*****ed and rightfully so. What would you think would happen if let's say an Iranian helicopter crossed the border into Afghanistan and killed 28 US troops? Full invasion of Iran is what would have had happened.

Eo: We had an overwatch program, for years, on Pak Nukes.
Part of a deal we made with India.
It stopped a war, at that time.

A bit ago, the Paks said **** off to the overwatch deal.

I believe that the Pak nukes are all over the place.
There is some worry, they might be outside of Pak.

I believe this is the source/reason for US/Pak problems.

So the "Offical" word now is..
Afghan and NATO forces came under cross-border fire prior to deadly attack on outpost, from the Paki side of the Border.
A Western official as well as a senior Afghan security official were cited as sources of the Incident in queston..

Of course the Pakies are now pretty*****ed off having demostrations Today...

Quote:
Thousands gathered outside the American Consulate in Karachi on Sunday to protest against a NATO cross-border air attack that killed 24 Pakistani troops and is threatening a strategic alliance between the countries.

A Reuters reporter at the scene said the angry crowd shouted "Down with America". One young man climbed on the wall surrounding the heavily fortified compound and attached a Pakistani flag to barbed wire.

NATO says "Were Sorry" and Intends to investagte..

Quote:
U.S. and NATO officials are trying to defuse tensions but the soldiers' deaths are testing a bad marriage of convenience between Washington and Islamabad.

"This was a tragic unintended incident," NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in a statement, adding that he fully supported a NATO investigation that was under way. We will determine what happened, and draw the right lessons."

Of course the US will do it's own "investafating"

Quote:
U.S. Central Command will conduct its own investigation into the airstrikes.
Gen. James Mattis, who heads the command, is expected to appoint an investigating officer by Monday. That's according to the defense official, who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity

Pakies still aren't happy a deep sense of RAGE is Building.. Can't get the Drone Base shut down? well,,, We'll do this..

Quote:
Pakistan shut down NATO supply routes into Afghanistan — used for sending in nearly half of the alliance's land shipments — in retaliation for the worst such attack since Islamabad uneasily allied itself with Washington following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.

Tensions could rise further if militants unleash attacks against the stranded trucks.
...

hopefully another attack won't come like one did a year ago when 150 trucks were destroyed @ a Afgani pass though the Mountians, (Khyber pass?).....For the "accidental attack" that killed 2 Paki Solders...

This time backed up thus far...

Quote:
The situation could be more dire this time because Pakistan, outraged at the alleged NATO attack before dawn Saturday, has closed both its crossings. Nearly 300 trucks carrying coalition supplies are now backed up at Torkham in the northwest Khyber tribal area and Chaman in southwestern Baluchistan province. Last year, Pakistan only closed Torkham.

So right now....Jamaat-e-Islami, Is protesting in the area...

Quote:
Meanwhile, about 500 members of Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan's most influential religious party, staged a protest in Mohmand tribal area, where the NATO attack took place.

"Jihad is the only answer to America", they yelled.

Pakistan is reviewing whether it will go ahead with plans to attend a major international conference in Bonn next month on the future of Afghanistan in light of the NATO attack.
They also further say they NOW reserve the right to attack/counter attack against further attacks against thier forces
if you read this quote from them , this is what they are saying...

Quote:
Around 40 troops were stationed at the outposts at the time of the attack, military sources said.

"They without any reasons attacked on our post and killed soldiers asleep," a senior Pakistani officer told Reuters.
Pakistan responded with unusually strong condemnations and said it reserved the right to retaliate. Pakistan condemned the secret operation as a flagrant violation of its sovereignty, while suspicions arose in Washington that members of Pakistan's military intelligence had harbored the al-Qaida leader.

I like how the US/NATO apology wasn't really an apology. Just an oops, we thought we were doing the right thing. We'll look into that, honest.

Operation Destabilize Pakistan seems to be going along on course. Maybe we'll take them and Iran on at the same time?

Pakistan has never been stable to begin with. Maybe the first few years after the partition, but at this point their economy is failing; the political machine is corrupt and broken; and the best of the Pakistanis are moving to Canada, US, Australia and UAE. Soon the only ones left will be poor, corrupt or Taliban.

So long as they have nuclear weapons, Pakistan is untouchable. They can burn every NATO truck they want and shelter every Taliban they want. They are part of the nuclear club and there isn't much we can do about it except bitch and moan. We can't even stop paying them their Aid money as now we being extorted in that the minute we turn off the tap, they 'go' Chinese and Taliban.

For those who think we can 'take' their nukes like we picked up Osama X 80 (estimated number of Paki nukes), I think they are smoking too much hashish. Your common-man Pakistani is a shrewd, intuitive, think-like-a-fox and an artist at deception. I am serious. It is part of their DNA to be this way and as I have said before, I will put my money on a Paki van driver being able to outfox a state department cubicle cowboy any day of the week - because at the end of the day, the critical path with Pakistani nukes comes down to a Pakistani van driver. For those who have been to Pakistan or the UAE, this is some scary ****!

They are moving their nuclear weapons around the country on a random schedule. Typically they put the nuke into a normal van with minimal security 'so as to not attract attention.' Then they take a drive through Karachi to move the nuke. Probably only a matter of time before some enterprising Paki sells out the location of the 'convoy' to the Taliban and voila, the Taliban will have a nuke. (Or Iran for that matter...it's just business.)

And if you guys think Pakistan is a pain in the ass, wait for Iran to get a nuke. They will make the Pakistanis look like Hare Krishnas compared to the Iranian regime (who was also once an 'allie' of the US.

I was reading the comments from some Indian newspaper and one of the Indians made a pointed observation: "You Americans always make your Allies stronger, build them up and then you wait for them to attack you? Why do you do this?"

Pakistan: No more drones.

Quote:
ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan will shoot down any U.S. drone that intrudes its air space per new directives, a senior Pakistani official told NBC News on Saturday.

According to the new Pakistani defense policy, "Any object entering into our air space, including U.S. drones, will be treated as hostile and be shot down," a senior Pakistani military official told NBC News.

The policy change comes just weeks after a deadly NATO attack on Pakistani military checkpoints accidentally killed 24 Pakistani soldiers, prompting Pakistani officials to order all U.S. personnel out of a remote airfield in Pakistan.

Pakistan told the U.S. to vacate Shamsi Air Base by December 11.

A senior military official from Quetta, Pakistan, confirmed to NBC News on Saturday that the evacuation of the base, used for staging classified drone flights directed against militants, “will be completed tomorrow,” according to NBC’s Fakhar ur Rehman.

Pakistan's Frontier Corps security forces took control of the base Saturday evening after most U.S. military personnel left, Xinhua news agency reported. Civil aviation officials also moved in Saturday, Xinhua said.

Pakistani Military Chief Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani had issued multiple directives since the Nov. 26 NATO attack, which included orders to shoot down U.S. drones, senior military officials confirmed to NBC News on Saturday.
