"3 weeks bad and now just a permanent little cough"

That sounds like what I got LAST spring. Around mid April, it got unseasonably cold with flurries and I came down with the flu .... 10 days pretty rough maybe 2 wks til my energy was back and the fever was gone.

But that permanent little cough remained. No sore throat, and I cough at most once or twice a day if that -- not a hacking cough -- more like clearing my throat.

But I still have it, a year later. No other symptoms, not getting better but not getting worse. And no clue what it is after repeated web research.

Some scary ****... this is from the link Binney provided.
Quote:
Those efforts included isolating infected patients, using vaporized disinfectant in patient rooms, replacing plumbing that officials suspected harbored the superbug, and hiring people to oversee doctors and nurses as they scrubbed their hands prior to seeing patients. When no new infections arose between January and July of this year, researchers thought they had the bacterium, which is impervious to all known antibiotics and at least one experimental one, under control. But on July 25, the boy tested positive for the superbug. In total, 19 patients were infected and 11 died, though only seven of those deaths could be directly attributed to the bacterium.

I was just thinking, that there are among us now some people who were transplant recipients who ever after are on immune suppressing drugs. These people are themselves more susceptible to contracting an infection but also that makes them little amplifiers who could contribute to the spread of an epidemic whenever it comes along.

People with chronic kidney dysfunction without transplantation usually have immune compromise. Infections in general cause 20% of the deaths of renal patients every year. Those are the patients without transplants.
