In Dayton, Ohio, your car will be towed 4/16/12 The Dayton Police Department ordered the towing of 257 vehicles in the first two weeks of its renewed effort to encourage payment of parking, speeding and red light citations. That decision dramatically increased the number of vehicles towed in the city while creating long lines of citizens paying fines and reclaiming cars. Police began towing vehicles with a combination of two or more unpaid camera-caught violations or parking tickets on April 2. In announcing the decision, the department said that those who haven’t paid within 30 days of the second violation would be subject to towing. The 153 vehicles towed from April 2-8 represented a huge increase from the previous week, when the department took in 10 vehicles. Prior to April 2, the city did not tow vehicles because of speeding or red light violations that were captured on red light cameras. more... http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/dayt....

...and if you have no water or sewage, condemn the house. Seize it! Crazy stories about how the .gov is doing crazy things to generate revenue will continue and get more bizarre...and evil.
Just read on ZeroHedge about a man who applied to give up his US Citizenship...and was denied. Denied!! See, the state owns you.
If you have no equity in your home, the proper solution is to walk after you've purchased another. The whole creaking system is one giant enslaving cabal.

Most municipalities, if your water is shut off, you aren't allowed to occupy your property - even if you own it.
My acquaintance with the broken ankle is going to be facing this soon.

I could be wrong but years ago when I was in Las Cruses it didn't look like collecting rain water would work pretty deserty...however a lawsuit for turning off city utilities for failure to pay fines to a private company might be interesting...

No. It's Bush's fault; didn't you get the memo?
Keeping voting though, I'm sure it'll turn out someday... In the meantime, I know of some prime beachfront property in Phoenix, AZ that you might be interested in...

This hits home since I was really considering dropping my citizenship. No way they let me now that I'm making money though. If we hit 70+% rates on the 'rich' I'm going to go postal :)

Galt won't work...
Edit: "Going Galt" is a libertarian wet dream. The enemy, in this case the State, will kill you for going Galt. Ther's only one way out of the box and it ain't pretty...

The people targeted/upset by this new policy just need to get creative in how they protest it at the city council meetings and/or court appearances.
A few dozen unwashed, smelly constituents who "accidentally" excrete themselves in those public places ought to leave a nice pungent reminder for TPTB to think about. No water, no sewage? This is what happens. Rinse and repeat as necessary (pardon the pun).

And for those of you who think they have citizenship to renounce, compare Luria v US and Souza v City of Antioch.
Come to your own conclusion.

We had a dispute in my former town here in FL. The mayor showed up on someone's doorstep and threatened to shut off their water over a fence dispute. Imagine that bs. It's all documented in a letter posted on the town's website from the homeowner's lawyer. I was bored one day and reading through the town council meeting minutes.
If water is shut off, other posters are right. You would probably immediately get cited by code enforcement and ordered to leave. What a joke all of this is now.
That same podunk city assessed a $200 water deposit for everyone. You know when you got a refund of your deposit? When you sold your house. So they just keep your "deposit" forever. Other towns either don't assess a deposit (based on your credit when we lived in GA) or refund it after a good payment record of 1 or 2 years.

5/8/12 Legal battle brewing over camera tickets, towing Dayton’s recent move to begin towing cars to enforce unpaid tickets triggered by red-light cameras has ignited rumblings from local attorneys who want to challenge the cameras in court. Whether such a challenge would be successful remains to be seen. The Ohio Supreme Court in 2008 issued a unanimous landmark ruling in favor of red-light and speed cameras. “It’s clear that it’s established by the Supreme Court that photo enforcement is legal in Ohio,” said Dayton Law Director John Danish. But attorneys told the Dayton Daily News that the Ohio Supreme Court didn’t weigh in on all of the legal questions the cameras raise, including due process concerns. Tickets from the cameras are civil summons, and not criminal citations like normal traffic tickets. That means, among other things, people who receive the citations and want them dismissed must prove they are innocent, instead of the other way around like in criminal court. Thomas Hagel, a law professor for the University of Dayton, said towing to enforce unpaid camera citations cuts legal corners to try to collect money for the city. “Is the collection of that money so important that we’re willing to seize people’s property without full-blown due process procedures? I think most people would say that’s too extreme,” Hagel said. Dayton last month began towing vehicles of owners with two or more unpaid red light citations in an attempt to collect millions in unpaid citations. That resulted in an increase in ticket collections — people paid 6,184 camera-generated tickets worth about $566,000, according to the Dayton Municipal Court clerk’s office. Of that, Dayton will receive around $370,000, more than twice the highest amount the city has collected in one month in camera-generated tickets, according to city records. The rest of the money will go to RedFlex, the company that owns and operates the cameras. But the program has also resulted in a flood of complaints to City Hall. At least one law firm, Dyer, Garofalo, Mann & Schultz, is researching a possible lawsuit against the city over the towing program, said Mike Dyer, a partner with that firm. more... http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/dayt....

Harrison, care to elaborate?
Been to Dayton from the 70's to the 90's without missing an event. Not since 98 tho.
I watched the fall of countless industrial/tech businesses there over the years.

Expy,
The last three times to Dayton we've been somehow involved with criminal activity.
Last visit we had our car broken into. Smash and grab but since there was nothing of value it just ****ered the weekend trying to get a window replaced.
Visit before that we witnessed an assault/robbery and interviews/statements never seemed to end. I felt the cop was trying hard to implicate us as part of the problem. From that day on I became Sgt. Schultz as far as cops are concerned.
Trip before that had really annoying things. ****ty room, bad food, dishonest vendor, bad experiences with Kentucky AND West Virginia cops.
Shame because I had been enjoying my trips. Especially after they moved the fest later to avoid the cold ****ty weather. Still have my hats and tees from ll the big vendors.

Thank's Harrison.
I had a strange exp with a WVa trooper who was parked along side of the rd and when we passed, accelerated and caught up to us a moment and then went on.
Were yours traffic related and was there any reasonable probable cause for their involvement?
Do you think your tags had anything to do w/ it?
