US votes to sell Taiwan 66 new fighter jets

The House of Representatives voted Friday to require the United States to sell 66 new fighter-jets to Taiwan, with lawmakers saying the deal would close a growing military gap with China.

The House of Representatives voted to force President Barack Obama's administration to authorize the sale of F-16 jets in addition to plans under way to upgrade existing planes. The measure still needs Senate approval.

I doubt the democrats will block this bill.

Now the only factor is how long will it take to supply them to Taiwan and what will China do about it?

Chinese chips in those planes? With Chinese back doors? Or just give them the software source codes. We support our military hardware producers, and our friend know that these planes are no real threat.
We probably got permission from the Chinese to make the sale and look good to the voters.

Reacting to the vote, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said the decision "constitutes a grave interference in China's internal affairs".

Boohoo. What ya gonna do about it Jack? Nothing, that's what.

Cool. Looks like an existing-fleet modernization package was bolted on to the deal.

Yippee for me!
