N.Korean Army Chief 'Refused to Go Quietly'

A gunbattle broke out when the North Korean regime removed army chief Ri Yong-ho from office, leaving 20 to 30 soldiers dead, according to unconfirmed intelligence reports. Some intelligence analysts believe Ri, who has not been seen since his abrupt sacking earlier this week, was injured or killed in the confrontation.

"The firefight has still not been 100 percent confirmed," said a government official here. "It may take some time for us to gain a clearer picture of what happened."

True or false? We'll know soon enough.

Yeah, that IS pretty interesting. Stuff like that doesn't happen in the DPRK, and if it did, then it usually doesn't make it out for public consumption in the West.

If true it begs the question... a calculated act of resistance?... or, just a bruised ego?

Yeah, this getting leaked and the "big announcement" of lil Kim become Dear Leader makes me wonder if the admin is in crisis mode.

Eh, nothing really happens nowadays (yep, normalcy bias is here in a big way), so I'm probably making a bigger deal out of it than it is.
