http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/news/201....Quote:North Korea has placed about 50 attack helicopters at air bases near the western sea border in response to South Korea's Air Force placement in the Yellow Sea, South Korean government sources said Tuesday.
North Korea's military has deployed the helicopters at two air bases near the South's Baengnyeong Island, located just south of the western maritime border, since May to prepare for ground attacks and high mobility drills, a senior military official said. And they also have built a hovercraft base in the same area. http://english.chosun.com/site/data/html....Quote:N.Korea's New Hovercraft Base Near Completion
The North has about 130 hovercraft, and the new base can accommodate about half. So far the North's main hovercraft base on the west coast is more than 300 km from South Korea's northwesternmost islands. This report is from last year, the base is ready to go. http://english.chosun.com/site/data/html....Quote:The base can apparently accommodate up to 70 of North Korea's hovercraft. Each of the vessels can carry a platoon and travel up to 90 km/h across water and mud flats. Once it is completed, North Korean troops would be able to land on South Korea's five West Sea islands, including Baeknyeong, in 30 to 40 minutes. While this is coming : http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/news/201....Quote:S. Korea, U.S. to conduct joint military exercise in late Aug.
outh Korean and U.S. forces will launch their annual joint exercise in late August to improve their defense posture against the belligerent North Korea, military officials said Monday.
The Combined Forces Command (CFC) said in a statement the two allies will hold the Ulchi Freedom Guardian (UFG) from Aug. 20-31. The computer-aided exercises will mobilize some 56,000 South Korean troops and about 30,000 U.S. soldiers, including some 3,000 from the U.S. and other bases around the Pacific region, the CFC said. 86 000 soldiers in a drill... seems to me it's a big drill... IMO nothing will happen since nothing EVER happens... but wouldn't surprise me if NKorea tests a missile or a nuke on July 27... it's their ``Victory Day``. (end of the Korean war July 27 1953)
