San Antonio school kids are being monitored with tracker chips (RFID badges). The program costs over $100,000 per school per year, money that could be spent on academics. If you don't have a badge, you can't hold student leadership positions.

Spoke with a friend whose son attends O'Connor High in Northside ISD. She knew about the RFID name badges. What she told me is that they are being used in at least one of the schools with a high absentee/truancy rate. The RFID system is used to take the roll every period to try to make it more difficult for kids to ditch out for one or two periods at a time. The hope is to maintain better attendance in order to get better average daily attendance bucks. If so, that is a mighty expensive way to do headcounts.

If you take role with a badge on a lanyard, why can't they ditch class and give the badge to someone else who will badge-in for them?

Well, Jesus, Jota, ya can't start with jabbing a chip into the sheeplets' necks right off the bat.

Ya gotta start easy, a softer training harness, if you will. Then make up a ****load of stats, followed by a "Well, if we could better enforce with, say, locking wrist bands, then..."

People are lazy and a bunch of scared kittens so they will take the easy ``get your kid a chip to keep them safe from kidnappers, terrorists, etc...`` route...

You know how parents are often totally insane when it comes to their kids.

So teachers are incapable of competently educating the kids (less that 50% of kids reach grade level proficiency from grade 4 on up) and now it's shown that they can't even take attendance. Hmmm. Yeah, we definitely need to keep these bozos on the payroll and make sure they have comfy retirements.
