I think this best goes in General, since it affects a US company, local real estate, jobs and taxpayer spending.

DETROIT — General Motors is opening a new computer center in Austin, Texas, where it plans to hire up to 500 people.

The automaker said Friday that it will hire software developers, project managers, database experts and business analysts to run the first of several information technology innovation centers it plans to open in the U.S.

GM said it picked Austin because it has a ready workforce with the skills that it's looking for. The Austin metropolitan area is home to a growing high-tech community that includes the University of Texas at Austin and computer maker Dell Inc.

"The next generation of IT workers, the talented visionaries we want contributing at the Innovation Center, are being trained at top computer science schools in Texas and surrounding states," GM Chief Information Officer Randy Mott said in a statement.

Not sure how I feel about having government motors right down the street.

As popular a meme that may be, that's not how it works here. That's specifically not why you would choose this location, as explained in the article. The companies who are going that route, like IBM, are more or less shuttering their operations in Austin.

And you type that on a phone or a computer that probably has something in it that I helped make. Jobs like this will give you FU Money, if you plan well, so you dont have to care what knuckle draggers think.

When I open my fat mouth, I usually try and make a point with it.

You may be forgetting one thing about me, Dak. I was raised in your world from a little kid. I grew up overseas on and off base. My brother married the daughter of the command sergeant major of the Unites States 7th Army. I was raised in the homes of colonels, generals and enlisted guys who were my friends' parents. I was raised by your world.

One thing you have to put up with that I don't is bureaucracy. It's the worst anywhere on the planet. And you know it.

Dakine, your pointless ad hominem attacks are pretty pathetic. If you don't like a pasty look or don't like working indoors, that's fine, but you should take your stupid denigration elsewhere.

I take it you two were arguing before this thread? It seems like it.

Dak likes to pee in a bunch of different threads. I usually just ignore it. The high horse Dak chose for this*****ing match was the wrong one. In some ways I know his world that he's talking about better than him because I was almost born into it and worked as a military contractor once I turned 18. I know all about not working, lol. And all the **** he has to put up with.

GM: Good luck in recruiting as your are not an attractive company to work for.

You'll stifle any engineering talent with your bureaucratic POS like Covisint.
