On the other thread, someone suggested emailing a picture of a tea-bag. That would work well if a copy of a really good ticker were included - one of the more 'statesman-like' missives from Karl. Anyone have any ideas?

My idea is to mail the real thing. It will be much more effective:). I'm sending some stuff from Asia:)

I agree with mailing the actual teabag...must be handled physically.

Yeah - the actual tea bag is best.

Requires actual eyeballs. I have a feeling many letters just get filed in the round file in some offices.

Goodness, I hope you're not mailing quality stuff, there mm.

I'm also going to send all of them a package of Kool-Aid.

They then have a choice of which to drink:)

Instead of mailing a teabag how about printing out this page and stuffing it in an envelope? Would that count?

Maybe if you also added a note, the stamp was issued in 1976 for 8 cents and now postage is 42 cents that is a 34 cent increase in 33 years equaling roughly a 13 percent annual inflation rate (did I do that math right?)

Sure. Are those stamps still available for purchase? They might actually end up being more expensive than tea bags.

Here's a link to what Costco is offering currently for bulk tea bags:
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.asp....

100 tea bags for $5.90. You can cover the majority of Congress for $29.50. I know they often have different tea at the stores (as opposed to online). I've gotten the Red Rose brand there for less than $5.00.

Nice.

Keep the ideas coming, so people have more to choose from. smiley

Here's an idea from another thread if you're really on a limited budget. You could print out a bunch of these on paper and send them:

If you're in Portland, OR and need some tea bags, send me a PM. I've got a lot of old Lipton bags from Costco.

Think long and hard about this and get an expert legal opinion before you send anything. If a disruption to the normal system is caused intentionally, even with GOOD intentions, there could be some legal jeopardy.

I don't want to be a party pooper but guys you got to be very careful what you do, even if it is innocent nowadays, and I don't want to see any complications arise for the folks here by doing something someone else with power could frown upon

After the past few years there may or may not be clear laws [and common sense tells me there are] about sending unusual things in the mail to a .gov body. Heck, it's illegal to carry a penknife into a post office.

No ****? Well, I break that law every time I go. I carry two pocket knives and another small one as part of a tiny leatherman keychain. I won't stop carrying them into anything and anyplace I wish. (I'll make an exception for air travel, not that I ever fly anywhere.)

I won't be scared into not sending a teabag either -- I don't give a rat's ass if there are legal consequences. If they want to waste OUR time and money prosecuting something so ****ing stupid -- it needs to be done -- to serve as yet another example of how horribly twisted our system has become. And a very good example it will be if there are thousands upon thousands doing it.

Nothing personal Expy, I thank you for the concern for my (and our) wellbeing. However, there are limits to everything, and making a teabag through the mail an illegal form of protest is a far cry worse than too high a tax on it.
