These are "TF-Specific Definitions" Alphabet soup refers to the various programs, (such as the TAF) the Fed has created to provide short-term loans to member banks. To jawbone is to attempt to influence the market by what you say. About the only people with the power to jawbone are the Fed chairman, the various Fed governors and the SecTreas. CNBS airheads occasionally engage in jawboning; in fact, the argument could be made that CNBS is all about jawboning. 2008-06-05 14:24:42
