KY sold it on the premise the un awarded funds would be used to fund education. Passed by an overwhelming majority.

The CA school systems need a forensic audit. Money just gets sucked down the drain. Same with the UC and CSU systems. How much money goes to illegals? Billions, yet the politicians would rather cut off the old people instead of people who shouldn't even be here. The state is run by morons.

What did they do w/ all the money they've already been given? This amount of "new" shortfall is well in excess of what they've recently claimed. It's as if none of what they've already been given was used for anything "budgeted" ... like it all went someplace completely different.

Good thing we're not cutting a penny from our precious California Education budget!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Give government money and it will pay itself. Government is simply a collection of people all trying to get paid.

The only time the government should ever be given money is because the private sector can not possibly be expected to perform the function itself.

Example, letting Wal-Mart run the Fire Department / Police Department.

The frictional loss from a collection of people who automatically get paid is astronomical.

I think schools are encouraged to take illegals and pretend not to notice. Schools get federal dollars for each day each student attends. So schools don't care at all where the student comes from, only that all available classroom deadbeats are expanding the school budget.

Classroom deadbeats slow down students who speak English as a first language and attend regularly. And they do it all at no expense to themselves.

We (at UC) were told a few days ago that there is going to be support for Higher Ed. Haven't read the details but it also involves no offering early release to prisoners.

I think that it nearly 50% of expected expenditures... not revenues..?

California really ****es me off!!! Last May, by 67% voters said "no new taxes" leaving Sacramento befuddled. How to balance the budget without an increase in revenue? They've state has already looted the county and city reserve funds. clueless

A study was out last year, comparing California with peer states over the last decade. Study showed while the other five had a net gain in jobs and business, California net loss.

Yougofirst, the illegals are also getting welfare and use our county hospitals for their healthcare, which they don't pay for. Not to mention we also pay for jailing them instead of deporting them.

The UC/CSU also needs to start taking massive paycuts and pensions should be shut down.

Decriminalize drugs and they could save a ton of $$ on the prison system.
